Lanny
Fiel is a Texas musician currently active in the study and performance
of traditional music from the Texas Panhandle. His research
and documentation of this style includes recordings and publications
documenting the musical heritage and culture of West Texas.
Through his work in this field, he is developing an educational
program teaching youngsters this musical legacy.
Director
and founder of The Ranch Dance Fiddle Band (1996), Fiel is a
graduate of the Texas Tech University School of Music (1983).
His professional experience includes: guitarist, Creative Workshop,
Nashville, Tennessee (1969 - 1973); music librarian and violist,
Lubbock Symphony Orchestra (1982 - 1996); country fiddle instructor,
Texas Tech University Band/Orchestra Camp (1983 - 2002); producer
and host of Roots Music, a public radio program exploring the
origins and influences of traditional music broadcast weekly
on 89.1 FM-KOHM, Lubbock, Texas (1991
- 1997); and
clinician and guest artist for traditional music and Texas history
projects, Irons Junior High School (1992 - 2002). |
